FAMES Pilot Line Launches 2026 Open-Access Call

The FAMES Pilot Line has launched its 2026 Open-Access Call, inviting industry players, research institutions and academic organisations across Europe to apply for early access to advanced chip design and manufacturing technologies. The call is open until 22 May 2026 at 23:59 CET, offering access to specialised platforms that support the development, prototyping and validation of next-generation semiconductor solutions.

Established under the EU Chips Act, the pilot line operates as a distributed European research and prototyping infrastructure that provides external users with access to advanced semiconductor technologies, facilities and design services for chip development, prototyping and testing.

The FAMES Pilot Line represents a combined investment of around €830 million, co-funded through the Chips Joint Undertaking (Chips JU) and participating Member States. It brings together 11 research organisations across eight countries with expertise in FD-SOI technologies, embedded non-volatile memories, RF components, 3D and heterogeneous integration, and power integration.

This Open-Access Call translates that mission into practice. Eligible organisations can request access to the following technologies:

  • FD-SOI 10 nm Pathfinding PDK

  • 15 GHz LiNbO₃ BAW filters

  • 7–15 GHz AlN/ScAlN RF filters

  • PCM RF switch demonstrators

  • PMIC: Magnetics on Silicon

Access to these platforms is provided under confidentiality agreements and includes dedicated technical support from FAMES experts, ensuring secure collaboration and guidance throughout the process.

How to apply

Organisations interested in participating must complete an online User Request form before the deadline. After the submission deadline, proposals will be assessed based on eligibility, technical feasibility and pilot line capacity. Where demand exceeds available resources, ranking criteria will be applied to prioritise access. In the weeks following the evaluation, applicants will be informed of the outcome of their request, with the possibility of additional projects being accepted if capacity allows.

For projects that fall outside the defined call period or require more tailored engagement, FAMES also accepts Spontaneous User Requests throughout the year.
