Q-PLANET SGA1

Quantum Pilot Line for production of Advanced chips for Neutral atom European Technologies - Specific Agreement 1

Based on the expertise of 30 partners from 11 EU Member States, the Q-PLANET SGA1 proposal will implement the first 3 years of the action plan of the Q-PLANET FPA which aims to establish an innovative industrial quantum pilot line based on neutral atoms, economically viable, for scalable and reliable European quantum chip production. We will develop and deploy sustainable chips to secure European Union’s independence on quantum critical technologies and improve its economic performance, with the creation of 350 directs jobs and 1000 indirectly. Q-PLANET will foster user-uptake and collaboration among stakeholders, including other pilot lines, design platforms and competence centres, promoting a sustainable EU quantum ecosystem. The SGA1 includes developing and deploying at scale a sustainable pilot line guaranteeing the testing, production, assembling and deployment of industrial-grade chip-based key components, utilizing PDKs and ADKs, designed for the development of advanced neutral atom-based quantum technology (including computing, sensors and communications) to the benefits of end-users, while reinforcing the European Union’s quantum leadership and supply chain in a sustainable, resilient and autonomous way. Q-PLANET will place the European Union as a global player on the quantum technology, by addressing stakeholders needs (industrial, startups, research institutions) and social and environmental challenges through careful materials use and energy consumption. It will ensure that EU retains sovereignty on critical IP and know-how. Q-PLANET encourages the development and use of open-source software and quantum applications across sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, industry and sustainability. The project aligns with the EU Chips Act, the Chips for Europe Initiative, and contribute to the key actions of the EU quantum strategy including the EU quantum standardization roadmap and the European Economic Security Strategy.
