Slovak semiconductor and back-end technologies Competence Centre

The overall objective of the Slovak semiconductor & back-end technologies CC (BETeC2) project is extended of the Slovak semiconductor industry ecosystem focused on back-end semiconductor manufacturing and thereby boosting the semiconductor industry in Europe in accordance with the priorities and objectives of the CHIPS ACT and the Chips for Europe Initiative. To achieve this objective, several specific objectives have been defined. These are outlined below, along with indicators to measure when the objective has been successfully completed and their aligned with the objectives in the Call document. BETeC2 will comprehensively address the rebirth of the Slovak semiconductor industry with significant impact on emerging electronics and automotive industries by strengthening main areas: - establishment of a CC to support the research and design of new power and automotive electronics systems directly in Slovakia based on semiconductor devices for the automotive sector, - creating the access to new pilot lines, Design platform and other EU CCs and the Chips for Europe Initiative, to support research and development in area of power devices packaging in field of assembly of WBG power semiconductor modules and for faster design and prototyping of new power systems, - design and realization of pilot power systems for the automotive and mobility industry using electronic power components to be manufactured in Slovakia. One of the important objectives of the project will be to strengthen education, training and upskilling to strengthen the workforce for the semiconductor industry. SMEs will be supported in a significant way, whether through favourable pricing of services or the provision of consultancy and training services.
