JePPIX DET

JePPIX Photonics Design Enablement Team

JePPIX DET - the joint European platform for photonic integrated components and circuits design environment team - is a consortium of four organisations with skills in integrated photonics eco-system development and pilot line coordination (TUE), Semicon cloud services provisioning (ITILITY), photonic design automation (LUCEDA) and photonics intellectual property provisioning (ALCYON). The team works on behalf of the wider JePPIX eco-system of twenty suppliers and over one hundred active developers to build a designer-centric, full-scope, integrated photonics design environment which is centred within the wider Semicon and heterogeneous landscape in Europe. The team integrates existing cloud capabilities with the Design Platform and sets up the capability for designers to work fully within a single interface to the cloud-based design environment, specifying the resources as and when they are needed, removing delays through rigorously implemented versioning, licensing, compute resourcing, compliance and compatibility. This is enabled by: 1: Fully engaging the widest European network of open-access photonics suppliers at least 15 representative suppliers in the specifications process. 2: Deploying an initial photonic design environment workspace based on LUCEDA design automation software, five PDKs and Alcyon Photonics design IP. 3: Validating the JePPIX DET operations with five use cases, including onboarding processes. 4: Developing a scaling roadmap for design automation, design IP, design services, packaging and test services for commercial sustainability. The photonic design automation allows the expansion of the designer pool through simplified processes, interoperability with electronics and heterogeneous workflows. It enables the wider adoption of best practice Semicon methods for photonics. Europe's designers, and in particular SMEs, should experience a five-fold design flow acceleration.
