CHIPSIDEA

The project CHIPSIDEA aims to provide IC development services to European users by creating the necessary IT framework for operating within the European Chips Design Platform (EuroCDP) and by streamlining its operations according to the Platform Coordination Team (PCT) Architecture and Guidelines. CHIPSIDEA will act as end-to-end IC development partner. It will support the innovation and competitiveness of European startups, SMEs and research institutions, offering customised IC-design services, providing access to Electronic Design Automation (EDA) tools, industrial fabrication and testing of the microchips realised together with the users, and supporting the increasing utilisation of emerging technologies from the pilot lines. Especially in following areas of deep and leading expertise, CHIPSIDEA will boost competitiveness of European fabless companies: RF, mm-Wave, transceivers, sensors, ADC converters, PMIC, power electronics – including their verification & validation, and technologies developed in the pilot lines (i.e. WBG, photonics, trapped-ion quantum chips, FAMES). EDA tool support covers all leading commercial tools, but CHIPSIDEA also drives open-source EDA tools and IP. Application domains of CHIPSIDEA DET services will be aligned with SAL’s existing business, which covers many sectors, that are critical for society and the sustainability transition: Energy, Transport / Automotive, Health, Digital Infrastructure / Communication, Space, Defence, Production, and Agriculture. Utilising SAL’s and ParityQC´s capabilities and position will make CHIPSIDEA a substantial contributor to the success of the European Chips Design Platform and also to the objectives of the European Chips Act, the European Quantum Strategy, the European Digital Decade initiative, the European Industrial Strategy and the European Green Deal.
