Quantum Pilot Line for production of Advanced chips for Neutral atom European Technologies
The Q-PLANET FPA aims to establish an innovative quantum pilot line based on neutral atoms for scalable andreliable EU quantum chip production. We will develop and deploy sustainable chips to secure Europe’s independence on quantum critical technologies and improve its economic performance, with the creation of 350 directs jobs and 1000 indirectly.
This FPA will develop advanced manufacturing technologies and integration processes tailored to quantum chip production, enabling quantum technologies industrialization. Based on the expertise of 37 partners from 12 EU member States, Q-PLANET will develop, experiment and validate manufacturing processes, design automation tools, and support advanced testing solutions for quantum chips (SGA1). Q-PLANET will also establish a comprehensive testing infrastructure, including advanced characterization tools, test beds, and simulation capabilities. Industrial partners will validate quantum systems/applications performance and reliability, ensuring required specifications and standards are addressed. Q-PLANET will ensure the development of a robust, autonomous and sustainable European supply chain (SGA2).
Q-PLANET will place the European Union as a global player on the quantum technology, by addressing stakeholders needs (industrial players, startups, academia, research institutions) and social and environmental challenges through careful materials use and energy consumption. It will ensure that EU retains sovereignty on critical IP and know-how.
Q-PLANET encourages the development and use of open-source software and quantum applications across sectors such as healthcare, manufacturing, industry and sustainability.
Q-PLANET will foster collaboration among stakeholders, including other pilot lines, design platforms and competence centers, promoting a sustainable quantum ecosystem in Europe. The project aligns with the EU Chips Act and the Chips for Europe Initiative, to strengthen Europe's leadership in quantum chip technology.
